Semester at Sea, administered by the Institute for Shipboard Education, provides undergraduate students a global semester to explore and study many people, places, and cultures around the world. Since 1963, more than 63,000 students have studied abroad with Semester at Sea. Semester at Sea is a non-profit 501(c)(3) education organization. Headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado, Semester at Sea is academically partnered with Colorado State University.
Description of Position:
The Office of Advancement is a small but hard-working team. We are prepared for substantial growth, the innovative application of proven fundraising strategies, and entrepreneurial tactics. We are looking for a candidate who is ready to grow with us, problem solve, adapt quickly to changing demands, and play a role in creating a culture of trust, integrity and fun. We are hiring one Assistant Director of Travel Programs, who will report directly to our Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement. The Assistant Director of Travel Programs will plan, advertise, manage, and participate in our robust Travel Programs. The goal of our Travel Programs is to create opportunities for alumni, friends, former faculty and parents to travel abroad, learn, explore and have fun.
Twice per semester, SAS provides parents of current students an opportunity to meet their student in a designated port for a 7-10 day tour. In addition, we would like to create an alumni travel program to provide previous voyagers an opportunity to reconnect with the program abroad. The Assistant Director of Travel Programs will have the opportunity to create and build a new program with the goal of emulating the Semester at Sea voyage experience for participants.
Compensation:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Annually plan, manage, advertise and participate in four parent trips and three alumni/friend trips. Each of these trips may last 7-10 days and will take place at international locations (South Africa, Vietnam, Ghana, Europe, etc.).
- Exemplify and provide an incredible customer experience for participants in the programs.
- Build and sustain meaningful relationships with constituents and participants.
- Enjoy and value traveling internationally, including the ability to be flexible, accommodating, and adaptive as all travel requires.
- Create an organized tracking system to report on revenue and participant data to ensure long-term success of the program.
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned, and when the demands of primary responsibilities allow. Including but not limited to; Office of Advancement stewardship activities, database maintenance, event planning and administrative tasks.
- Participate in annual goal setting/strategy sessions and individually achieve specific revenue goals of each trip.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
We are seeking a results-driven, strategic thinker with great interpersonal skills. Candidates should possess the skills to work independently with the highest levels of integrity, confidentiality, and business ethics.
We require a bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in a relevant professional setting (hospitality, alumni relations, advancement, customer service, etc.). We require excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to travel domestically and internationally is necessary.
